Balfour Park

Balfour Park was completed in 2025 after years of fundraising efforts by the community.

Balfour Park is a .8 acre park with a play area, picnic area, greenspace, and parking.

Thanks to funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021 and advocacy by State Senator Kathleen Taylor and Representative Karin Power, plus notable fundraising by the Ardenwald/Johnson Creek Neighborhood Association and Milwaukie Parks Foundation this park was fully funded!

The money raised by the Ardenwald/Johnson Creek Neighborhood Association and Milwaukie Parks Foundation came from nearly a decade of annual plant sales held to raise funds for the park. Through the hard work and dedication of members of the neighborhood association and the MPF Board of Directors (most crucially, Lisa Gunion-Rinker, who tended the plants and organized these sales with love and commitment), $22,603 was delivered to the City of Milwaukie for park development in November 2023!

Milwaukie Bay Park is an 8.5 acre work in progress, located on Milwaukie's Willamette River waterfront, just west of downtown. It currently features a boat ramp, path, restrooms, and parking, including spots reserved for vehicles towing boat trailers.

Exciting changes are in the works for this park; it is truly a park with a future! The coming years will bring many new amenities that will delight and engage park users of all ages. Included on this extensive list are an amphitheater and stage, nature walk, picnic terrace, water feature, and a nature play area. You can help make this park a reality!

Milwaukie Parks foundation would like to thank everyone who has contributed to our campaign to raise money for completion of the nature play area. Bring Play to Milwaukie Bay! raised significant interest in the park, which in turn, resulted in more than $60,000 raised to support development. While Clackamas County Commissioners unfortunately placed this project on hold in 2021, MPF is confident that it will resume. Committed to the completion of Milwaukie Bay Park, MPF has placed all money raised in a dedicated, high interest savings account, where it will remain until this project moves forward again
