Elk Rock Island Grant News
We are so excited to have received grants for Elk Rock Island, so we can do the important work of meeting two big goals for the natural area; make it safer and more accessible for people, and make it more sustainable for wildlife.
The first grant awarded is the Good Neighbor Grant issued by the City of Milwaukie. Outlined in this grant are plans to delineate trails, place more educational signage, and plant more native plants. The budget is largely going towards materials and tools, while the labor will be primarily volunteers. Now is a great time to start volunteering with Milwaukie Parks Foundation! All you have to do is show up at Spring Park any 3rd Saturday between September and June at 9:30 AM. You can email us to get on the volunteer list so you know when all volunteer events are happening.
Additionally, Elk Rock Island has been selected as a focus for Metro’s Nature in Neighborhoods Community Choice Grants! Stay tuned as this project develops.
